WELCA
Women of the Evangelical Church in America
As a community of women Created in the image of God, Called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and Empowered by the Holy Spirit, We commit ourselves to Growth in our faith, Affirm our gifts, Support one another in our Callings, Engage in ministry and actions, And Promote healing and Wholeness, In the church, the society, and the world. All women of the church are members of WELCA. Activities may include: Support of missions, special worships, fundraising through special events such as salad luncheons, quilting for missions. WELCA also provides the framework for many of the operations of the church such as Altar Guild, flowers, working divisions for special events, etc. The heart of WELCA is the monthly Bible Studies at Circle meetings.
Our ladies are an active group. We meet quarterly and conduct a business meeting. We have four circle groups whose main function is Bible Study. We also have four working divisions that serve funerals and other events at church. All men and women of Trinity belong to a division. Our WELCA also organizes and hosts several fund raising events that include: Tour of Tables, Syttende Mai breakfast, salad luncheon, rummage sale, and Cookie Walk. At Christmas time we also sponsor a mitten tree. We collect mittens, caps and scarves for Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots US. Contact president Cathy Sorenson for information about WELCA.
WELCA BIBLE STUDY
The core of WELCA is the monthly study, based on the Lutheran Women Today magazine course. The study takes place at Circle meetings and provides for more in-depth searching of our faith. Studies follow a theme September-May with a shorter theme for the summer. Check the church calendar for dates and times of circle meetings.
